Celebrating the life of a living hero
An exhibit of the works and memorabilia of Senator Jovito R. Salonga was held at the Bantayog Memorial Center during the months of July and August 2011.
The exhibit showcased books and articles written by the senator, rare photos including an album from the Plaza Miranda bombing of 1971, plaques and trophies, and samples from the Salonga collection and library including files on the Sulu Sultanate's claim over the Sabah territory and foreign wire dispatches during the Marcos martial law period.
The retired senator is the moving spirit behind the Bantayog ng mga Bayani Foundation and is one of the foremost nationalists from the generation that produced such statesmen senators as Jose W. Diokno, Claro M. Recto, and Lorenzo Tañada. He is 91 years old.
